Interview conducted by Alan Cherry as part of the LDS Afro-American Oral History Project by the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University on 17 June 1987. Johnson talks about his early life in Chicago, Germany, and Washington State. He describes his college experience and his conversion to the Mormon Church. He discusses the role of the Mormon Church in his family's life and his relationships with other Mormons.
